Making sure your child is safe
is our top priority.

All Sail Rockaway lead instructors are lifelong sailors with prior teaching experience and an assured commitment to the highest standards. Keeping a vigilant watch on all fronts, over land and sea, is how we operate.

All instructors are
Red Cross certified
in pediatric and adult
cpr and first aid.

At least one of the instructors for every sail will be a US Coast Guard certified Captain with an active endorsement in CPR/First Aid and New York State Boating Safety certification.

We provide every child with a well fit type III life jacket.
Life vests are strictly required whenever underway on the boat

VHF radio and emergency signal devices kept on board.

Factors affecting water quality are always assessed before choosing to swim.

Auxiliary Support

We always have ready a rigid inflatable boat (RIB) with outboard engine, allowing instructors and staff to provide acute support to our group on the bay. Our RIB has a 9.9 hp engine for fast response and increased towing capacity.  Propeller safety guard and emergency-off switch dutifully installed on engine.  

Our youth program
is fully licensed and insured.
There will always be one
or more instructors with a
current USCG issued MMC license
