We offer high quality lessons at affordable rates.

Our instructors have been sailing since early childhood and possess an innate understanding of wind and water with a combined teaching experience spanning over 45 years. Our goal is to get you confident and prepared in the most efficient time frame possible in regard to sail theory and safety. We "put our money where our mouth is" because we actually rent out our sailboats for you to use after completing lessons with us. So before you commit to a pricey lesson package with other sailing schools, consider taking a few lessons with us. Our weekly offering "Practice Wednesday" is a great way to test the waters and enjoy the ride.   

Our boats are user friendly. 

Many sailing schools, offer lessons on J24's or large boats. Big boats are not good for teaching beginners. Put another way: you don't learn to drive in a Mack truck! There is the right boat for every sailing endeavor.

Sail Rockaway's main boat for lessons, the Norfolk Oyster, is 17 feet; simple, spacious, forgiving and yet responsive.  The Norfolk Oyster will feel like an old friend. Additionally, our Catalina 14.2 can offer a fast paced, exhilarating experience for those who seek the rush of "hiking out".

You can actually reach over the edge of our boat and touch the water.

Smaller boats offer a more immersive and less intimidating experience that will help you to FEEL, HEAR and SEE what's truly happening all around you.
