After school sailing is a great way for kids to get outside and engage in both a relaxing and sometimes exhilarating activity that involves critical thinking, responsibility, and respect for the elements.
Beginner sailors and those with prior experience are all welcome aboard.
Sailing will take place on the Norfolk Oyster and Optimist dinghies. Experienced students will become proficient sailing the optimists while beginner students will have the chance to lay their foundation with the tiller and sheets aboard the Oyster.

Our typical day begins shoreside where we begin by practicing the essential knots.
We then make our way down to the dock and prepare to sail. Most days start off with sailing the Oyster, working as a team and getting used to the mechanics and the lingo.
|
More experienced sailors will be able to take out the optis on their own and participate in sailing exercises alongside the instructor in the main boat.
Learning how to rig and de-rig the optis, water safety, weather and tides, and basic navigation are also part of our curriculum.

If its a particularly warm day, we may have a swim on Dubos Point beach. The water will stay warm enough through September.
