Biking
Whether biking all the way from home, taking in the sites along the Jamaica Bay Greenway Loop or renting a bike locally, the beach boardwalk promenade spans the length of Rockaway from Beach 126th Street to Beach 9th Street, with a ramp on Beach 59th.
We suggest making your way to the boardwalk for a leisurely ride, passing tasty concessions along the way! The Beach 59th Street boardwalk entrance/exit has bathrooms, a playground, and is a popular beach for swimming and surfing- a site of Piping Plovers and dolphins! Bike from the boardwalk directly onto Beach 59th Street, and continue straight until you reach the marina, or weave over for a pit stop to Beach 60th Street to check out R.IS.E.'s median garden and art installations on Rockaway Beach Boulevard, and under the elevated tracks of the A Train. Bike rentals are available to reserve from: Paul's Bicycle Shop (on Beach 116th Street) or Rockaway Beach Cycles (on Beach 99th) |
